Hello,
My name is Janka and I am owner of Janula Soapery, Inc. I initially started making soap because I wanted to create healthy and organic bars for my household. Of course, like many other soap makers, I easily felt in love with soap making. I ordered several books about handmade soap because I wanted to understand the whole soap making concept and I wanted to do it right. Honestly, I was a bit nervous about my first batch of soap. It turned out great and right then, I had already many more recipes I wanted to try. I spent a lot of time researching different techniques, swirl types, started learning about natural colorants, additives, essential oils and their benefits. I was interested in herbs and botanicals since I was very young. I also participated in several botanical school competitions so using different blends of herbs and essential oils in my soap making was something that came naturally to me.
After trying new recipes and making batch after batch, I created a nice pile of soap at my house. Since it was way more than we needed, I started giving soaps away as a gift to my friends and family. Of course, I also wanted to know their opinion about them. Because they truly liked my soap and because I fallen in love with my hobby, I decided to take a step further and I opened my own little soapery.
Soap making is so artistic and a bit of scientific process for me. It has been a learning process but I truly like my new adventure that I started.
I also became a member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild, a not-for-profit trade association representing and supporting the handcrafted soap and cosmetic industry. I am currently preparing for my cold process soap making exam so I can be an official certified soap maker.
